During the 2017 holiday season, Yankee Candle launched a pop-up store experience in SoHo. Meant to be a true sensory experience, visitors were treated to a display of sights, sounds, and smells to envelop their senses. To support the store, we set out to recreate the experience online, so that users from around the world could enjoy and participate in the event.
One aspect of the experience – the ‘make-your-own-candle bar’ – was recently opened in Massachusetts as a permanent store feature.
To support the pop-up experience, the website was created to give people who were unable to visit the NYC store a chance to experience the different vignettes.
The website also let users design a custom candle, just like in the pop-up store. From picking the size and fragrance, to designing a custom label, users were able to create a unique candle and purchase it online.
